Hey all, I have a frequently asked question to ask (duh), and would like some opinions. I have 89 Legend Coupe 5spd. Sometimes when I'm in traffic, and slowly cruising in 2nd so as to not burn up the clutch or brakes, the transmission slips (or pops, depending on how hard I press the pedal) out of 2nd gear. It only slips on that gear and only at low speeds. I wanted to start doing some mods to it, but I have so far gotten many negative comments about that plan. It has high mileage, and I've been told different prices for tranny work, all of them high. Would a car like that sound worth the money to fix up?

Sounds like your clutch has a bad 2nd gear synchro. You'd be better off replacing it with a used transmission than getting it fixed or rebuilt. I saw a used JDM 1990 legend transmission of ebay for $399.00 Replacing would be at least $800. If it has real high mileage get the engine as well from the same guy. He's selling the JDM 1990 legend engine for $450.00. I've spoken with him and he's willing let both go at $750.00 + shipping. I talked with a local mechanic and they said to replace the engine and tranny would be around $1200. Supposely the JDM engines are low mileage. I was about to do that but I got a second opinion that the head gasket wasn't blown so I'm got lucky.
