are wings aka "spoilers" really that expensive? i checked out the site that someone from crx1 club posted and liked one of the wings. but i think the prices they were quoting were pretty high. is there someone or somewhere else that is cheaper?

also, what does the spoiler do for you performance wise? i know it makes the car look better (which is more or less why i want one) but does it actually help with traction/control and stuff?

also, when installing the wing (spoiler), would i have to drill holes or use glue? both seem to be too invasive and i'd like to keep the paint job unharmed. if i don't use those methods, would it more likely be stolen?

thanks!!

Spoilers help to hold your car to the ground so it doesn't "lift" while you are driving fast, thus giving you better control.

almost every tale requires that you drill holes to put the bolts on... you could get some really strong epoxy, but that would be worse than drilling because your gonna have to cut off your wing if you don't want it anymore.
the only wing I can think of that you might not have to drill for is the lip spoiler, you can stick that on with double sided tape... but watch out that someone doesn't literally tear it off.

Think realistically, you cannot just snap on one of those! You're gonna have to drill or glue or just stick it on. It is really not so hard to do and it is only that little piece of metal on the hatch... it doesn't have that much paint on it and is not hard to repaint.

I haven't been able to get any good prices out there... I only would buy a wing from a good performance shop or body shop around.
I have seen better prices around and not so good on the net, but I live in the bay area and wings are everywhere here. What kind of wing were you looking for?

ideally, i'd like to get the one pictured here:

http://www.andysautosport.com/images/wings/honda2.jpg

the one numbered 102. i really like the way it looks on the back of the car. i've also seen pics of wings on the top of the hatch instead of the end of the car. but anyway, i want to get that one. the prices on the net here are just so high. how much would something like that cost over at the west coast? maybe you could put me in touch with a company that may ship to me.

i'm assuming that since it's online, they are not only trying to attract american customers.

abroad, honda DID manufacture a '92 CRX. at least, that is my understanding.
