I just got a pre-owned '05 Civic LX. I would like to have wider tires to increase handling. I would like to know what the maximum ammount size of the tire i am able to go without changing rims. Your responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

What ever you do, check your state laws and ordinances. In Alabama, your tires cannot extend beyond the edge of the car.

well you can get them from the tire dealers maximum you can do is that you can get the Radial Tires and out of Brands BridgeStone is the best you will get the more grip of the road. Happy Safe Driving.!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Just curious, what is the purpose of the big wide wheels? Don't they cut down on performance?

Wider tires are only one part of tryung to get better handling but its a good place to start. Go to a local tire shop and ask about plus sizing. If you are wanting better tires you probably want new wheels too. Plus sizing keeps the overall diameter of the wheel & tire the same and it allows you to run a wider tire.
