Hey Steve, My name is Gary and I am from London. I have a 1998 El sport. Too bad i didn't wait till this year as the sport edition now comes standard with a sun roof. I lowered my car 1.75" and have 205/45/16 Toyos on 16" x 7.5" wheels. Looks good. I also have a K&N air intake with a vibrant stainless steel straight through flow muffler. It has a 3 1/2" stainless steel tip similar to the Tanobe design. The car runs and looks good. looking for other ideas out there. Any to offer? Talk to you later. Gary.

Hey Steve, Yes, the vibrant muffler sounds really good. Not too about the Vibrant air intake. If you want a really good aftermarket air intake then look into the PRM intake systems. They are great but may cost a few pennies " Not sure how much ". What size wheels and tires do you have? The 1.75" lowering would make your car look and handle alot better. Have you heard of any body kits for the El? Talk to you later. Gary.

Steve, I am sure that those kits look great but I am sure that they cost quite a bit as well especially if they had to be modified to fit the El. Hey if you could afford it ......... go for the 17" wheels. Just be sure that the off set is right such that when you lower the car the wheels don't touch the fender. There are civics here ( same chasis as the El) that had 18" wheels .............. looks nice. Remember to check the offset of the wheels. Talk to you later. Gary.

Gary & Steve; I must have missed this thread!! where was the vibrant exhaust first mentioned? I'm getting a vibrant exhaust that's patterned after the Mugen double-pass muffler. Is this the one you guys are talking about? I can't wait to do this, and the exhaust is at the shop waiting for me, but a few projects went over-budget so i have to put it off for ANOTHER few weeks! Hey Tony, It's Gary here. The Vibrant muffler that I have is a semi - oval stainless steel casing with a 3 1/2" stainless steel tip that looks like the Tonabe type tips. It's a full staright flowing muffler. It looks and sounds great. It's not too loud but it definitely gives you that DEEP tone "Sporty" sound when you give it gas. Let me know what you are putting on your car. I am always looking for ideas once they are within my budget. Expensive hobbie!!!! I have 205/45/16 Toyos on 16" x 7.5" ASA wheels with a 1.75" drop with APEX springs. Also have a K&N air filter charger. No added struts yet. It's also tinted with 20% black tint, the optional stock back wing and installed crystal white Euro - White head light. Talk to you later. Gary.

Hey, gary, sorry for the late reply, i thought this was from the other EL list, so i was looking for it over in that folder. I've only got a few mods, so far.. and there'll only be a few more, since i'm going to be doing a swap sometime late this year, or early next. so far -performance wise- i've got K&N drop in filter - resonator box & tubing removed, and the base of the airbox cut out to expose the whole bottom side. I just did this yesterday, and i noticed a little bit of a drop on the torque, so i don't know if it was such a good idea. AEM underdrive pulleys - excellent bang for the buck! so far the best i've seen, that's including intake/header/exhaust/ignition upgrades which i had done to my integra before i purchased the EL.. this should have been my first purchase back then. Timing advanced - 18 deg. BTC - I've always thought, this is a good lo-buck upgrade, you do feel it - but it might be in my head. ;-) Eibach pro-kit springs - 2"+ drop, good performance, but my shocks are starting to go so I'll need to upgrade that soon. 22mm Type R Swaybar (EL stock is 14mm) - really sweet, really cheap (104+taxes) if you're able to re-use your stock nuts & endlinks. bolts on but you have to do a few minor adjustments. let me know if you want details. I have a Vibrant muffler on order - will be bolting that up in the nextr few weeks. it's a double-pass design, like the mugen muffler displayed in the King Motorsports adds. can't wait! aside from that, i used to run toyo T1s, very good tire, but expensive. and on the appearance side, I've cleared out the corner lenses, tinted the signal lenses, and cut out the stock front grill and added my own mesh. I've also added side marker lights, and taken off the 'acura' and '1.6EL' emblems. That's all for now, but after the muffler, i'll probably upgrade the shocks and that'll be it untill the engine swap! Tony Semana Operations Coach AIC Group of Funds ext 4679 tsemana@... >

Hey Tony, Your El sounds pretty good. You certainly spent some time and money on it. Do you have any photos of it on your hard drive that you can send via e-mail? How long have you had your Eibach springs and how are you certain when you have to change your shocks? I know that I will have to change my shocks sometime but is there another sign besides the increase "springy" action at the corners to look out for? What are you going to swap your El for? I too was thinking of getting a full blown weapon R air intake but i also heard that it gives an initial drop in torque but improves with higher rpms. The El being so low in torque as it is I probably wouldn't go that route. It was good to hear confirmation from someone else. Thanks. The only other thing that I might do this year or next year is to get my rocker panel mouldings color matched with the car. Talk to you later. P.S: Any stock tips? Mutual funds are O.K. but pretty slow these days! I need to read up more about trading etc before I get into it. Gary.

gary, thanks for the comments! I have been taking a few digi-pics of the EL, but i don't have internet service from home, so I've been planning on saving some to floppy and bringing it in to the office. I'll be posting it my OLD website soon.. As for the springs, the bounce is really the only way you can tell the shocks are giving out.. the difference from when i just installed the springs (last October/November) to today is drastic, if you're in the car a lot, you'll notice it, it's not just a springy feeling, the car will actually bounce when you go over a bump at highway speeds, it'll take a few 'bounces' to settle, and that's not good. an old-school way of checking struts and shocks is to just push down on the corner, if the car bounces, they're toast. As for the swap i mentioned, I just wanted to clarify that I didn't mean to swap the EL for another car, I meant to swap the 1.6 Single-Cam engine out for either a Civic SiR (1.6 Twin-Cam) or the Integra's 1.8 GSR engine. Don't get me wrong, I'm planning on keeping this EL for quite a while! ;-) Tony Semana Operations Coach AIC Group of Funds ext 4679 tsemana@... >

do you surf the import sites alot? Jerome Soh is a well-known engine supplier, he's an e-commerce-only business, but you can call him and ask for info.. I think he's based in the states - seattle, but he sources the parts from other places, and i am almost sure he was based in Van before that.. here's his website. http://www.sohfast.com/ let me know if you know him or have heard of him. His site shows complete swap kits, and he sounds like a real stand-up guy, a friend of mine has ordered parts from him (integra suspension stuff) numerous times. When I'm actually ready to do this, I'll be ordering it from Jerome. Tony Semana Operations Coach AIC Group of Funds ext 4679 tsemana@... >

Does anyone have any comment /info on Redshift Racing (Burnaby) in regards to their engine sway deals?
