im at 48k miles right now, and they seem to be working ok, at a
certain mileage should they be changed, or only when they dont feel
right? and should i get front and back replaced at once to make it
easier, or just one end?

When I traded my '99 CR-V, EX, with 105K miles on it, I still had the original
brakes on it!!!

On most Honda vehicles (I've had 8,) you usually only need to replace the rear
brakes about every 2-2.5 times that you replace the fronts.

This depends mainly on your driving habits. Or, should I say on your braking
habits. It is easy to tell when you need to replace the front brakes because
the pads have wear indicators on them. When they start touching the brake
rotors, they make a really high pitched irritating noise. When that happens,
you still have quite a few more miles before the pads are actually worn all
the way down. But, I'm sure that you will change them way before that because
the noise is really annoying. As far as the back, you'll have to have the
mechanics check them when you have the fronts replaced. They don't wear as
quickly as the fronts.
