Hey, dude! I have a 1990 Legend L sedan with an
auto. It's a great car, with only 78K miles. I've had
it since the beginning of the year, and enjoy
driving it. Some things to remember: 1990 was the last
year of the first generation body style (the best
looking variation, IMHO). The engine is a 2.7L V6, making
160HP. The driving can be characterized as lazy at lower
RPMs, spirited at higher. With an auto, once you master
the S3/S4/D technique, you *almost* feel like driving
a stick. Keeping revs up above 2500, the car is
quick. Characteristically Honda, however, it's slow on
take-off unless you floor it. As far as maintenance, you
need to replace the timing belt. If the car was
babied, you can do it at around 90K. If it was driven in
daily traffic, or under *severe* conditions, you may
want to do it after 60K, as a broken timing belt will
cause an $$$$$ repair (much more than just replacing
the belt) because the engine is an interference
engine. Replace the water pump at the same time. Another
thing to replace above 65-75K is the gaskets,
especially the rubber ones around the side valve covers.
It's easy, about $25 in parts, and involves 8 bolts on
each side. Unchecked, it can leak oil all over the
engine, resulting in a burnt smell and oil loss. The
big-ticket item with these cars is the automatic
transmission. These tend to go around 100-120K, some earlier.
In Los Angeles, a replacement is $800-1000 including
labor. Also check the condition of leather (if so
equipped), the headlight securing ring (mine was cracked),
leaking/bouncy shocks. How to determine sedan models: L has the
L sticker on trunk, and dark taillights with the
"LEGEND" inside the middle taillight. LS model: light
taillights, with chrome LEGEND on the middle
taillight.

To take a look at my car, check out

(I need money to buy out
the Maxima (linked on that page) from my dad), let me
know and we can work something out. The car is also on
