Anyone experience a weird squeeling noise when the sterring wheel is
turned all the way to one side or the other? Doesn't sound like the
power steering pump.

When turning the wheel standing still, or when driving?
When actually turning the wheel, or when holding it at the stop?

If it is when moving only, when the wheel is tightly turned it is
probably the rear differential (double-pump) fluid needs replacing.

If it is when turning the wheel when standing still, I would check
the power steering fluid and the belt.

If it is when holding tight against the stop, it is normal, (don't do
that!!)

It is when doing this. Note: I have a 5 speed not auto, if that
makes any difference. And normally when parking, or backing at slow
speeds. But I could swear it sounds like a noise in the front not
rear. I have almost 60K miles and the CRV is 4 years old

Thanks! David

Do the rear fluid.
I don't have first hand experiance with this yet, but it makes sense,
and lots of others have reported the same issue and the same fix.

Yep, just went through the same thing and had a hard time becoming a believer too.  But now I believe!  You can pick up quart at Honda for about $8 if you want to do it yourself.

I cannnot disagree there. I'll try the rear diff fluid change. Heck
I almost have 60K miles so it won't hurt. I never tow, so I figured
the fluid couldn't be possible bad yet. But yes, I'll give it a shot.

So what is the fluid to ask for?

Honda "Double-Pump" Fluid ONLY!
I will have to do some thinking on this, but fluid wear may have more
to do with wheel slip than load.

Well whell spin or load. My CRV encounters neither. But I will
change out the fluid. Thanks for the help.
