Last year I had to replace a seatbelt buckle on my '89 Civic and I found a place that specializes in used Japanese car parts.
I wasn't worried about an exact match of colour for the part, so I got a great deal for a functional part and I'll keep that place in mind for the future.
Does anybody else here make a point of looking for used parts?

Yes, we always check for used parts first, especially on the ones that are so exspensive. Sometimes we have luck with them but every once in awhile we get one that doesn't work but you can usually take them back. Does save a lot of money.

I haven't had a lot of experience using rebuilt parts, but my impression is that if you trust the mechanic doing the work and he thinks it's worth considering rebuilt parts, then it's a good way to save some money.
