so i just got off the phone with my insurance company. i use liberty mutual and they have been pretty great through all of this. im getting the car towed to a local dealership today. should be all set by early next week.

the dealership that they use in town has been pretty alrighrt about everything as well.

the damages ended up being assessed at $1,500 after my $250 deductable. that was definately a huge relief to me after the adjustor had said that it was more than likely going to have been totalled. the dealership is going to fix everything and on top of that guaruntee their work for 5 years. hopefully at that point i will have a newer civic. ha.

thanks to everyone that replied, meant alot. its a really awful thing to go through. its been over a month now since the car was stolen.

as for what the thieves did, here you go:
-destroyed the drivers side door locking mechanism to get in.
-broke the casing off of the steering column to get the car started.
-managed to rotate the key hole 180 degrees. now the key goes in on the left. ha
-totally smashed the dashboard to get out my receiver. (pioneer deh-3400)
-took knives to my seats.

on top of that they put about 500 miles on the car, went through about 2 tanks of gas.

AND

left me 2 empty bottles of wine, few empty packs of cigarettes and an economy sized 50 pack of grape flavored blunt wraps. too bad im not into smoking marijuana. haha.

thanks again.

I'm glad to hear that the verdict isn't as bad as you were first told it may be.

Has this caused you to consider any anti-theft devices like the Club or something?

Thanks for the update. I am so glad that you didn't end up having to total it. Man they really went for a joyride. I don't remember but did you ever say if the people were caught?

they were never caught. the police say they think they know of a few different car theft rings in my area that probably took it. now its just headache after headache from my insurance company. haha. i wish i rode a bicycle.

im looking into one of the higher end viper systems. few friends have it and love it.

I am so happy that things worked out for you. I can hardly believe that someone would do that to a person and to a car. That's wonderful that you can get it fixed and guaranteed for 5 years. Our insurance company is very good. I only put a claim in once for the house, not the car. I have State Farm and I love it. God bless you!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/460.gif)

I am sorry that you have been getting the run around with the insurance. They seem to be good at that. Sure wish they would've caught the people though.

Hope the thieves were caught, for sure they will steal another car soon... Hope they burn in hell.... People like them does not deserve to be alive... Instead of stealing why not they they try to work and earn their own money.. Anyway, I'm glad you still got something in your insurance and you still got your car... Keep us updated if your car was still in good condition and your still keeping it after its been fixed.
