I just bought a turbo and was wondering if it would be harmful to my motor. I have a d16y8 with 137,000 miles on it and it is a daily driver. i am only going to push 6 pounds in it but i still could use your advice about it.

i dont have direct experience with turbos, but ill tell u what i think. If youre hesitiating this much just make sure youre comfortable with the decision u make, and willing to accept any "consequences". that being said, if you take care of your car and have the correct parts for the turbo, it should not cause any "damage". It may cause some extra wear and tear on your engine, but especially at 6 psi there isnt too much to worry about. it is often recommended that you use a thicker head gasket designed for turbos, so if it didnt come with the kit look into it. so id say if you keep up with maintenance and wont regret every part that goes and blame it on the turbo go for it. if all you want is for your car to last as long as it possibly can, maybe you shouldnt do it. make sure you get a boost and vacuum guage also to keep tabs on the turbo, as if something does go wrong with the turbo there is the potential to cause some real damage. also if its cooled/lubed by the engine oil keep doing frequent oil changes.

If your hesitant, then boost isnt for you quite yet. I would do alil more research into it first. Boost can be fun, but gets exspensive fast. Because if you going to run a stock motor with a turbo. You need a good tune. And you can have anywhere up to 350 to 500 in a good tune. And i may suggest a wideband and good piggyback system like hondata, crome, etc etc. or your car will blow up in a heart beat without any of that. And if you put the turbo kit on at home and have to drive it to get tuned, i suggest again to order a basemap so you can do so.
