I've got a 2003 Honda Pilot and the transmission is slipping. It slips bad when I first drive it, then after the car runs for a while(30 minutes) it gets better. I've had the fluid level checked and it's ok.
Any ideas what to look for before I take it to a shop?

Thanx

It sounds like something might have gotten into your fluid and that maybe the system needs to be cleaned.

I had a similar problem, and kelkat's idea fixed it! So much better than getting a new transmission, which was what a mechanic had told us.

You have to watch those mechanics - most of them anyway. I'm lucky because I can completely trust mine (he's even been known to do some things for free - oooooh!).

There is often a simple solution to an other wise costly repair.

Perhaps water in the fluid.... BAd, Bad, bad... Drain, and flush, repeat... Yes ! BUT.... How did water get into the tranny system... That is the real question ! You more than likely have a bad seal some where !, then after you find that problem... why did it go bad?... Prevent defense !

That's seems correct about water getting into the transmission. So with that you will change it several times to get it out of there. I wonder how water got in the transmission? I also try the least expensive route with my car. Usually it's something minor that can be fixed.
