I'm about to replace the transmission in my 1995 Civic. It is an automatic transmission. I bought another one because it's original one is slipping. It stays too long on the gears and then shifts abruptly, making the engine rev too high. Is there anything I should look out for? Any special tools I will need? Thanks

Why do you say so? It isn’t his car. So that was his opinion. Please let’s use our heads here

Hey guys,   I am new to this stuff, but I was going to slap on a new exhaust system by myself.  Figured it was gonna be something fun to do ect.  However the cost of having something installed by somebody who knows what to do, has a lift, has the tools, has installed tons of them before is not a bad idea.  Its not like your a wuss if you have a shop add something for you, its actually cost effective.  Just my opinion and if you like have the stuff to do it right then do it, but you cant tell me somebody who loves cars will want to drive something they think is even possibly sub-par.   Brad

>Above is a comment typical of someone afraid to do anything by themselves... >those who think there is something too mysterious about bolting a friggen >transmission on ... so sad   OK, Sin... I was saying that because of the way this guy asked the question that he shouldn't be attempting the job.  You have a really bad attitude.  I have built motors, changed rears, changed trannys, clutchs, blah blah blah.  I've been into racing for almost 10 years now.  So why don't you sit down and learn something little boy.  The funny thing is that you don't "just bolt on a transmission" you moron.  Automatic tannys weigh a few hundred pounds and are 10 times more complex than a manual tranny.  Now that you are the one that stands corrected take your 15 second honda and go sit in the corner until I say so.   Your superior, Dre Tired of spam? Here some information about previous jobs I've done. You can visit my site http://members.tripod.com/volkswagendiesel

I've made 75 modifications to my rabbit diesel 83 non turbo 4 speeds. I made it a  1.6l turbocharged intercooler 5 speeds transmission.

I replaced everything from push rods to fuel lines , cluch, even the instrument cluster.

My question about the honda was to find out by you fine people out there if I would need any special tool or take any aditional care, since I never done this kind of work in an automatic transmission car.

Thanks for thinking I was not able to handle a screwdirver.

"Thanks for thinking I was not able to handle a screwdirver." Let alone the fact you can't spell screwdriver, you don't use one to switch transmissions. Nothing special if you know trannys, you know trannys. Oh and by the way what is a "1.6l turbocharged intercooler 5 speeds transmission"? Sounds pretty high-tech Dre >

I dunno either of you guys, but Dre has helped me, you have helped me before and really I just dont see how he said anything that should get you all pissed off.  I mean wtf, opinions are like assholes everybody has one, so why get pissed off at his.  See I think he was just coming fromthe point of view that lots of guys get on here talking about how they are gonna do this and that with no clue ( myself included ).  So he was posting the idea to take to a shop.  Nothing wrong with that, cause mechanics have to eat to.  Brad
