An update, pictures to follow.
The hitch I put on is from Curt Manufacturing, model 12515.
www.curtmfg.com
They rate it as a Class 2 1/2 3500Lb.
I picked this one because I wanted a 2" receiver, and it was the only
one I could find. I checked with several hitch companies on the web.
I purchased it through www.Hitch-Web.com
They have been very helpfull with both the ordering and some
installation questions I have had.
It took about an hour to put on. I hade a minor problem with the
bolts hitting the muffler, but it is an easy fix by grinding down the
bolts a bit and using sligtly longer muffler hangers.
If I was not a perfectionist, I could have probably just bent the
existing hanger points down enough to clear the bolts as they were.
A question to the group:
Has anyone installed the factory or an aftermarket trailer electrical
connection?
So far I have not found and aftermarket kit, and the factory kit
seems a bit expensive, and requires an excessive amount of
installation.
My first use for the hitch receiver is only for a bike rack, so I am
not in a hurry, but will be doing the electrical part of the
installation soon.
On one more note;
Has anyone purchased the electrical service and trouble shooting
manual?
I have the Service Manual, but am disapointed on its circuit
diagrams. Everything is shown as a harness, without indications as
to what wires are in the harness.
Thanks all.
P.S. Nothing more to say on Extended Service Plans,
Aren't you happy? (IMG:
