Looking for tire recommendations......

I have decided to go for the 235/60r15 and am looking for recommendations

My local tire guy is recommending tires that I've never hear of like
'Cordovan' and 'Laramie' tires. Anybody heard of these?

My local Goodyear place that does my oil changes, etc, is pushing Eagle GT
2s.

I know Saltman has Avids.

Any Recommendations?

Geoff

I love my Yokahamas. GREAT wet traction. Quiet ride.
Have not yet had the chance to drive in heavy snow,
but so far snow traction seems to be superior of the
original tires.

try dunlop sport a2s. got em from tirerack(215-65-15) and they perform
pretty good- dry or wet. these are pretty good alternative to
bridgestone 940,950- cost cheaper too.

I have the avids in the 235/60. Extremely pleased with wet and dry handling.
Transformed the handling completely on the CRV. We had a few ice patches
last week when the winter storm hit the south and the 2wd lx had no problems
dealing with it clad with the yokos.

235/60R-15 tire choices;
Michelin XGT H4's "H" rated are my next choice but be prepared to lose more
than a few "greenbacks". They are $110 a piece at the tirerack.com versus
Yokohama Avid S/T "T" rated at $46 a piece.
Yokohama AVS Intermediate "V" rated are $82 a piece.
The tirerack sells QUALITY tires at low prices, my experience with
comparable cost local dealer tires I get cheap quality tires at cheap
prices.
"T" rated tires last MUCH longer than the performance variety in my
experience. I save the TRUE performance driving to my Civic SI so
performance tires were not warranted to my CR-V, though I do drive it rather
aggressively.

1994 Honda Civic SI
1997 Toyota T-100 SR-5 Extended Cab
1999 Honda CR-V EX 5-Speed
1994 Nissan 240SX LE Convertible

Thanks Gianni, my experiences match yours perfectly, my web site is
basically centered around those tires at the present time. Glad someone has
been pleased, of the available choices they were the ONLY choice in my
opinion. Not a perfect tire for all conditions but they cross a lot of
preferences reasonably.
Yokohama Avid S/T "T" rated 235/60R-15

Forgot the 215/65R-15 size is an excellent choice too.
Thanks for reminding us,

NTW/NTB will usually match Tirerack, or Discount tire Centers prices
on the same tires, if they carry them.

Do you check the "build date" of tires. Some places sell old or shelf
tires. A tire will rot on the shelf, in my experience tirerack.com sells
the "freshest" quality tires on a REGULAR basis. They are the largest tire
dealer in North America.
The "build date" is especially important when the local dealer makes you
that unbelievable deal on a set of tires.

Granted, I agree with the match the price at NTW/NTB, which a local purchase
is better than mail-order but be very careful. The tirerack.com provides
the info. on their web site to understand those confusing codes on the
sidewall of tires. In my experience, the tirerack.com has not tried to sell
me "old" or "blemished" tires since 1979 !!!!!

Below is the exact "net" location for the tire marking info.
http://www.tpub.com/air/11-10.htm

I have also included a very helpful picture for your convenience.

Thanks Kathy, I had the info. should have communicated it earlier. It seems
my gal friends are a bit more detailed and organized. They also keep me
inline when it comes to the fine details, which are critically important.
