Hi,

I'm currently thinking about purchasing and '02 CRV. I was wondering
how you all felt about your cars. Are they reliable, do they get
good gas mileage, are they safe, etc? This is going to be the first
car I buy on my own, so I want to make a good choice. I've narrowed
down my choices between the CRV and the Ford Escape. I'd love to
hear some opinions about your CRV's.

I have owned Honda's since 1989, I currently have a
'98 CRV and I love it!
I have 42500 miles on it and have had not even a minor
problem with it. As with all my Honda's as long as you
do routine maintenance the cars last and perform like
new

I was trying to decide between the Escape and CRV. I rented an Escape
for a day (Hertz is affiliated with Ford). I drove about 300 miles,
from sea level to 4000 foot mountain passes. I got about 22 mpg in
mostly freeway driving. I was disipointed in the range and it was a
bit noisy. The Escape drove very nice and has nice room. I didn't
like the seat fabric. I did like the fact that with the Escape you are
able to lock it into 4x4 while on the CRV 4wd only kicks in after
front wheel slip. In the end I decided to get a CRV. I think the
Honda will be more reliable and I would rather deal with the Honda
dealership rather than the Ford.
