Hi, I have a 'new' 2001 CRV, and I noticed a sensor in the dash (a
bit below and next to the steering column) when I opened the dash to
put in a new stereo. Now here's the thing, In the dash there is a
little grid and behind that there is a back plastic sorta funnel. In
the funnel there seems to be a temp sensor and on the black plastic
bit there are two metal connections. Now I checked in my car but I
could not find any cable that supposed to connect to this sensor,
nothing hanging loose or anything. I would like to know why the
sensor is there and what it is supposed to be connected to ?

Anybody.

I am in indonesia so they could have opted for minimalist electronics
etc etc, but I find it strange that (if so) the sensor is there at
all..

hey Erick,
I'm only guessing, but could this be the sensor for the air-conditioning?
Do you have the standard Honda air-conditioning with the temperature
control?

I am not sure, I have air conditioning and it seems the temperature
can be regulated with the knob in the middle. The sensor is in there
(looks like a small capacitor) but no cable connected to it. Nor any
cables in the neighborhood, that's why I am am confused....

That's why I am trying to figure out where the cable is supposed to
go to and where it should be running past below the dash..
