As many of you know, I have a '99 EX, 104K miles.

I've done all the work on it myself (timing belt, all maintenance, etc.)

Anyhew - Check Engine light came on the other day. Now it is running real
rough. I've done the "reset" procedure, and have counted the flashing lamp.

Seems to make sense that it is the primary oxygen sensor. So, I call around for
prices on one.

I replaced one on my '89 CRX a few years back, and it was about $25. CarQuest
wants $481 for one!! (I almost fell off the chair!!) Then I call AutoZone, and
Advance Auto Parts, neither of them can get one. AutoZone can get one for a
'97, and it's about $260.

I call my dealer, and he says that it runs around $240, and he'll get it for me
for $182.16

Check www.hparts.com.  I had to replace my O2 sensor on my 1997 Prelude.  It lists for $225, but hparts got it for $140-ish. The MILs that I've had have correctly diagnosed the problem (I have an OBD2 scanner just to make sure anyway), so I would tend to trust it.

$180 for a factory 02 FROM a DEALER isnt all that bad.

Definately go to hparts.com and get it if you can wait a few days.

I just had to replace the flex pipe on my 90 Accord EX and the
original 02 sensor came out without any threads. Hparts wanted
$137.00 for a new sensor but I had to have one that Saturday so I
broke down and got it from my local dealer for $220.00. List was
$260.00

I dont understand WHY they are so expensive. 3 wire O2 sensors for
GM LT-1s and LS-1s are $45 all day long.

THough Ive been told they are hard to find at local shops becuase 1-
they are expensive and 2- they rarely go bad so they dont stock them.
