Hi, my 99 Civic is having starting problems, specially when cold. I thought it was the main relay so I resoldered but the problem remain, so I replaced with a new genuine part and the problem persists. This is what happens: mainly in the mornings and late at night when I try to start the car I turn the key the main relay does it's usual clicks (both old and new part) but the fuel pump doesn't not prime. I attached a wire to the + of the pump and when it does not prime I get no voltage when it primes I get the usual around 12 volts until the second click when the pump shuts off, so my conclusion is that the pump is all right. Since I replace the main relay and get the same problem I don't know what could be wrong. Can you give me a hand on this?

Thanks

BTW this is my first post.

When it's warm it usually starts.
The car had a Gemini Alarm installed at the dealer but now it has a K9. It seems that when the new alarm was installed the old one was not removed completely. It was until I changed the relay that noticed some non stock wiring. So this wiring was for the old alarm a nice job well insulated and going through the correct places. This old wiring altered the orignal system, the #7 wire of the main relay socket was cut and a line taken from there. I suppose that this did a cut off for the fuel pump and something was still interfering. I took it to a alarm installer and told him to return the car to original condition and completely uninstall the old alarm system. He did it and after a little more than a week it seems that the problem was the old alarm system, once everything restored to original state (reattach the wire going out of the main relay socket and eliminating the rests of the old alarm system) it has been working fine. Shame I discover this after buying the new relay at the dealer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
Seems like it would have been a tough one if I have taken the car to the mechanic, specially being an intermintent damage.
BTW when I dissarmed the alarm and inmediately tried to start the car it didn't work, if I waited something like 20 seconds then there was no problem.

Wow, I would have never figured that one out. I have never heard of that happening to anyone before. It's a good thing that someone was able to figure it out for you.

I discovered it when replacing the old relay.
Now I have two perfectly good working main relays!

Thanks for your help.
