This '03 Odyssey is my first non-Ford auto. I am very happy about most of it, but the rear brakes squeek very often, sometimes they even sound like a cricket, just slightly squeeking even when not engaged.

Worst of all, on this van I bought with 33,000 miles on it, is that the gas milage is really lousy!!! I'm only getting like 18mpg hwy!!! My '95 Aerostar got 19!!1

I have no experience to offer, but would love to hear any ideas or suggestions!

THanks much,
Flo

Have you had a tune up? Sometimes a tune up can help everything run smoother. After myt last tune up I notcied I was getting better mpg. Not exactly sure why, but it may be worth a try.

I had squeaky brakes before too, and the mechanic said they were fine. It was annoying, but the brakes preform excellent.

Also, congrats for switching over to a Honda. I have driven Fords in the past too and I would never go back. Good luck.

Man sunny good job telling people what they probably already know...

as for the question seems like maybe they are locked up or stuck... i don't know if you do your own work but if you do take them apart and look around... sometimes this happens if there is debris or they are just dirty, it could also be that someone was working on the parking brake and tightened the adjustment for the wire too much.

also fords are not bad vehicles there are pros and cons... i have had hardly any problems with my fords in the past .. for my Odyssey it as been in the shop at least 5 times and i have spent over 5,000 on it for repairs.. i cant stand how expensive everthing is for Hondas at least fixing fords is cheap

The brake pads that were installed were probably aftermarket pads; in other words, not from the original manufacturer of your car. And have the brake rotors checked to make sure that they are running true because it may causing your mpg...Assure that they were machined properly. Good luck!

I just had new brakes put on the van. Sometimes they still squeak when I 'm backing up. When it is raining outside the brakes sound like that too. But the function of the brakes are excellent. The other day I had to brake really fast for something. They didn't lock up or squeak. They came to a stop with out a hitch.
