I get a used to get squeaky sound when backing up and took it to the Dealer,
He said that it is due to the formation of glaze and he cleaned it . He also
mentioned that it is only a temporary fix. Did anyone have the same problem
?.

I find it hard to believe that Honda would necessary overlook this.

Also, I have the same problem as others with Cruise control, (slows down
going up hill), I wish they had put an powerful engine in CRV.

Has anyone tried altering the engine to get more power?

thanks

Where was the squeak? Brakes?

I have a rear drum that is a little out of round and causes the brake shoes
to squeak on the backing plates inside the brake drums.

I took it to the dealer (local) and they said that they would take it
apart, and put a little grease between the shoes and backing plate...

I demanded (nicely) that he turn the drum, as any gearse in the drum area
would inevitably wind up on the shoes and cause grabbing or whatever.

Putting grease in there is putting a band-aid on the elbow when the cause
of the problem is the knee... I guess I'll pull the drum and have it turned
myself. $5 tops. The drum isn't very much out of round (I just hear it - I
don't feel it in the pedal). I just hate the squeak when I stop in traffic.

Love our CR-V though!!!

Take care all!

Hey, me thinks the cruise problem is the cruise control unit like mentioned
before.

You've probably got an auto-tranny and that doesn't help either.

Our 5 spd does great, but it is the 146 HP 1999 engine. I guess the earlier
less powerful 126 HP engines might be worse - I haven't driven one.

I have seen stuff where they have supercharged and turbo-ed these engines.
I hear they really go, but it'll cost you $1500 $2000.

Hope I haven't stated the obvious here.

Take care all!
