I am going to buy my 16 yr old nephew some speakers for Christmas. I am looking for something not to pricey but that is going to last with a bunch of kids blaring hip hop (ugh). Any suggestions?

If I was looking for car stereo speakers, I'd check out some of the bigger stores like Best Buy and Future Shop.

I see Future Shop has some savings on now, starting at systems below $100.

Do you know if those systems are built to last? I don't want to buy anything that will blow out quickly if music is played too loud.

Generally speaking, I think you can find very well made electronics for a good price these days.

I guess if there's a concern for high volume stereos, the higher wattage speakers and amps would be a good choice, and probably cost more money too.

I wonder if including a bass cannon would provide the feel that the hip hop crowd would want, without blowing the higher frequency speakers?

The bass cannon is a really good idea. My nephew and his friends are into the "hip hop" scene. I bet that would work nicely! Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. And if you find yourself riding in a car while it's on, remember you didn't get the idea from me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/57.gif)

Actually, I've never heard one from the inside of a car.

I had my 2000 LE CRV factory speakers changed with
Clarion all around. It made a big difference

Infinity reference series speakers work great without any amplifiers. The
factory radio only really puts out about 10-15 watts. There are companies
that make harnesses to plug into the factory speaker wiring that will not
require you to cut anything and will show you pos and neg.
