I really like the look of your spareless CRV.  Thanks..  My CRV is red and I believe it will look equally good.  Where did you purchase your Al wing?

Where do you stowe your spare?

Two questions were asked on the Honda CRV, where did I put the spare and
where did I get the wing.

First the spare tire:

Find a spare donut tire (at import junk yards, about $30/$40) for a Prelude
or Accord V6 (5 bolt), take out the plastic bin under the table, move the
jack from its mounting place and put it in the middle of the spare tire wheel
well, and then slide the donut tire into the well (outside up).  Insert the
edge of the tire under the back part of the well first, wiggling it around
and adjusting the jack as necessary until it fits into the well.  It is a
sort of tight fit but it doesn't move and it holds the jack down, no rattles.

The wing:

I got it from "APR Performance" their web page is

http://www.aprperformance.com/main.htm

I didn't like their mounting method even though I tried it, so I modified it
as seen in the attached picture.

By the way, there is more than show here, in the attached picture you will
also see an engine shot with the Jackson supercharger, what you can't see is
the 1" lowering springs (H&R) and 50 ratio tires (another 1.5" lower, much
better cornering.

Why all this you ask, I just like the idea of being able to be comfortable
with 4 people, haul a lot of stuff, Haul a**, excellent sand and wet weather
handling (Mid-Florida resident), looks really bitching, and still gets 20/22
mpg.

Jeff,
I have been toying with the idea of maybe installing the
"donut" spare on the back inside of the right quarter. Our
daughter has a first generation Odyssey and the spare is
mounted at that location with a nice cover to match the
upholstery. Maybe that Odyssey spare will fit the CRV and
if so, at a junk yard one might find the tire and cover in a
wreck, as well as the bracket that could just be adaptable
to the CRV, too. The one thing I hate is it will cover
that speaker for the sound system... if I do it, I will
cross that bridge when I get there.. Then again there may
not be room to do it or some other reason.. I would prefer
not to loose the stowe space under the floor (table) behind
the rear seat if possible, but that is the ideal place if
all else fails..

I wonder if that Japanese door is available to purchase in
the US.. Note the license plate is in the center.. also
the bumper is straight across the back... Wonder where they
put the spare in that version?

Questions, questions.. :-) But thats the reason for this
site, right? :-)
