A few months ago my CR-V was rear-ended when stopped in traffic. The body shop repaired the damage, but when I got it back something didn't seem right about the position of the spare tire, but I trusted the body shop and let it go. A few weeks ago I came out to my car in a parking lot, and there was another SE parked next to mine. It wasn't until then that I noticed that my spare tire was at a much different angle than the other CR-V. On the other CR-V, the spare tire seemed to stand pretty much perpendicular to the ground. On mine, the bottom of the tire was sitting extremely close to the rear door, but not touching. The glass, as it swings up seemed to be much farther away from the top of the spare tire. It was like the spare tire was sitting at an 85 degree angle. Since then I have been watching out for other CR-Vs to see what position their spare sits at. Funny thing is, some are straight and some are similar to mine. I brought it back to the body shop and he is looking into it, but swears it is within specification. Anyone else notice this? I am thinking of using some stainless or nylon washers to space out the bottom of the wheel about 1/2 inch to the rear- This will also fix the position of the top slightly.
