I just recieved my JVC Kameleon stereo which I
switched for the Blaupunkt, which I earlier mentioned. I
still do not get any AM reception. Now I know it is not
because the Blaupunkt was a European brand. I tested the
stereo after I made all the necesarry conections, by
putting a metal coat hangar into the antennae slot on the
stereo. It work perfectly, I had AM reception. When I
install the stock antennae conector I get nothing.
Another test I did was, while the stereo was conected
with the stock antennae and the stereo on FM, I
unscrewed the antennae from the top of the car. Instant
loss of FM reception was the result. What this tells
me is that the antennae is connected all the way
from the stereo to the roof of the car. The stock
stereo works fine, I just want to upgrade. This is
really racking my brain. Can anyone tell me what may be
going on here? Could the wire not be grounded properly?
