so a few weeks ago my '98 civic ex got stolen from the parking lot where i work. police found it ditched in mass about 2 weeks ago now. i have the car back and my insurance adjustor came out the other day to check things over.
he was saying the cost of the damages might end up totalling to car. i was wondering if anyone knew approximately how much the following costs, i cant really find too much information anywhere. here is what i need to have replaced:
-steering column -entire dashboard -drivers door locking mechanism -seats

Hey Bryan, I've very sorry to hear about the car theft.
I don't have any experience in a similar situation, but I'd be shocked to hear that replacing those four items that you listed would be enough to justify totalling or writing off the car.

Sorry to hear about your car being stolen. I would agree that I would not think that it should be totaled. I am not to sure on the exact prices but have you thought about maybe checking out a junkyard. A lot of times the cars in the junkyard do to mechanical problems so you might be able to pick up some of this stuff cheaper there.

I really don't get why it would be totaled either. Can you maybe get someone else to look at it or is it the insurance company that is saying it is totaled?

Sorry to hear that but I did check out some incidents that were covered up unknowing and put up on television and even showed the way they stole a car from its parking lot. I am scared to leave my car even in parking lots but mostly it is done during late nights. How about your incident? I guess 10 year old car might be totaling to car amount, I am not sure about the costs though.

That does sound like a great idea for getting it cheaper. Sorry that it got stolen. Would it be better to get a check from your insurance and buy another one? Unless you are set on fixing it. Either way, I wish you the best.
