I'd be curious to see any statistics about accidents involving Smart cars.

I heard someone saying that they were actually safer than you might think.

Has anybody heard anything about their safety record?

Here is an interesting article on the subject:

http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2007/01...on_smart_c.html

Car weight does impact safety, so there is only so much they can do to improve it when there are so many big, heavy vehicles on the road already.

I like Smart cars, actually. I've heard they can be unsafe. In my experience (I had one for a little while) they feel a little less safewhen you're driving and are hellish over speed bumps.

I think if I was driving one, I'd be most concerned about driving on expressways. I tend to think they'd be pretty good for just driving around a downtown core.

Thanks for posting that link. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/57.gif)

they're definitely made for in towns. they're great for dipping in and out of traffic and stealing that last tiny parking space. And it is pretty scary on the motorway.

I just realized that the blog at the link above refers to the Smart ForTwo being available in 2008. I assume that's the American introduction, because they're already on the roads here in Canada.

I don't know I just don't know with all the bigger size cars on the road nowadays that I would personally feel safe in one.

The Smart ForFour is pretty nice and a larger size automobile, are they available yet?

I'm curious to see how these things will be on the market. If they're cheap, I could definitely see buying one for city driving.

I haven't seen the Smart Forfour. I am curious to see what it looks like? I just would feel safer if they were a little bigger.

My impression is that they're fairly popular here in Canada. I do see them on the expressways, too.

I haven't seen the four passenger model yet. Maybe someone could post a link?

I believe this is a four person smart car. I really like the design of this one. What do you guys think?

Just the other day I noticed an article on CNN announcing the Smart car for two.

I'd be curious to see how it does in the US.

I would be curious to see how it would do here in the US also. For some reason I just don't see it going over very big here.
