Hi, I have a 1993 Honda prelude SI 2.2 L Manual car. it has ab 190,000 miles on it. The car use to run great, but for ab a week or so, it has started to smoke up. after driving it for awhile i smelled something burning, when i looked under the car i noticed the exuast pipe wuz burning oil on top of it. and also, by the spark plugs. so i know the car is leaking oil. It seems like a small leak because only a couple of drops will go on the ground, the rest burns off. Is this a gasket problem? or is it something else? and my friend said that if i pour this enigne cleaner with the oil it might be able to stop the leak. could that work? If anyone has any idea how to make this stop that will be great, thanx.

i know it may be a small leak but i would not take it as a small easily fixable problem. this is something that i think would be best left to a professional. i've never heard of pouring engine cleaner with oil to get a leak to stop, seems to me that would just make it leak more. but i guess you could give it a try before taking it to a mechanic. good luck with this one, it might get expensive.

I have heard of an oil additive that can stop minor leaks for awhile. I think it seals holes in worn gaskets.

But I'd only use that as a very temporary fix at best. I suggest keeping a very close eye on your oil levels, making sure they're high enough and planning to have a mechanic stop the leak permanently.

Some of these cars will have remarkable life spans, but we have to keep enough oil in them or the engines can be ruined.
