Ever since I bought my 2000 Accord, it has had a scuff on the front bumper.

I've heard I should buff it. What would some of you suggest I use to buff it with?

Also, I've heard I should try to match the paint and paint it myself. Whatdo you think?

Any other suggestions?

I sure wouldn't "buff it." That just seems to be asking for trouble. You might ask a local body shop about matching the paint. If it's a viable option and the shop is honest then they should tell you.

I think you can buy bottles of paint from the dealership in the exact color of your car. I don't know how easy it is to use. It seems if I did it, I'd make a mess!

You can get the paint from the dealership, but I bet they charge you just for the privilage. Check with an auto parts store first or a body shop. Both of them should carry touch up paint as well.

How deep a scuff is it? They sell those markers in auto supply stores that are supposed to smooth a scuff away if it isn't too deep. Could you try that?

yeah you can get the paint from the Auto Dealers. But I will suggest that you don't try to paint it your self as some might go wrong and it will look awkward then on such a nice car try to get some cheap car painter and he will get it done for you in no time.

What if the scuff is small though - say about quarter size? Wouldn't it be smarter to patch it yourself rather than going to the expense of having it done professionally?

How big is the scuff?

When I had a small scuff on my old Accord, I was able to get matching paint through a body shop (cheaper than the dealership) I took care of it on my own. However, it was very small (smaller than a quarter)

If it is bigger, I would buy the paint myself and pay sometimes else to do it. Is the finish scratched as well? If so, the surface might need to be smoothed down.

I was thinking about our 4 runner that had the whole hood messed up. That's not something you'd want to try to do yourself. A quarter, on the other hand is not that bid.

Paints from dealerships would cost more. Just try and search auto parts
shops or any body repair shops and try and see if they have the matching paint for your bumper.

if it's small it's okay to do it yourself, but if it's a big scuff you need someone else to do it for you. There's a lot of store where you can buy the paint much cheaper.

Small scuffs can be fixed with a buffer and polish. But you'll need a professional hand if it is big.
