I am looking for suggestions for carrying luggage on my 2000 CR-V roof rack. The standard Honda luggage rack is installed with Bike attachments.  Obviously I can remove the bike attachments.  Concerned about exposure of luggage to weather and/or theft. 
 
Any suggestions appreciated.

I believe the factory roof rack will only carry a weight of about 75 pounds. 
 
Some of the aftermarket racks will carry more, if you want more weight capability.  There are many "air-flow friendly" lockable containers that will attach to the rack with locking latches.
 
The factory rack is best for bikes/skis and making the CR-V LX/EX look better in my opinion.  The CR-V SE looks better without the rack due to the additional paint work. A COLOR MATCHED rack would look great on the SE, anyone done that yet?

 I have a CR-V SE which came with the roof rack.  I agree with Saltman, the LX/EX definitely look nicer with the rack.
