Rick Case Acura in Fort Lauderdale completely SUCKS.....I got my car June 15th, have 5700 miles and the service guy REFUSED to do an oil change, said i Have to wait 7500 miles, that would be o.k. but it is over 6 months and i think it should be changed. Also drivers seat squeaks like crazy, It is a 2003 3.2 TL type S and for $32,000 it should not be such poor quality. SErvice writer Paul Newman (yea that is his name) was arrogant and not caring at all says seat cannot be fixed then as i was leaving said they were working on a fix....Only reason i am venting i also have a 2000 Odyssey that was purchased at Pompano Honda and until a few months ago serviced at Coral Square Auto Mall, service was excellent but i tried Rick Case Honda which opened near my house. Well have had more problems mechanical and attitude at you got it Rick Case, really angry as both are very good vehicles but service like that makes me say never again because of Rick Case

Take it to a different dealership. The seat can be fixed with foam tape (they did that with mine and I had taken it in twice)...as for the oil change, they "say" they put in some special oil that should remain in the car until 7500 miles. I had mine changed at 6000 and they started their song and dance and I took it to someone else who changed it and also called the dealership to ask when Honda started making their own oil and additives. After a period of silence they terminated the call and my service man changed the oil. Good luck. Be on the look out for also having your rotors resurfaced around 9000K. I have had it performed and know of many other TL owners that have had the same done and had it done repetitively since.

BTW there are listings of current TL Technical Service Bulletins (service fixes) at the NTSA site http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/central2.cfm For my '99 TL, Including brake pulsations and squeaky seats. For other cars or years, go through the selection process at http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/ look under Technical Service Bulletins. (In typical Government fashion, many of the PDF documents that purport to be about Acuras are actually GM problems. <sigh> ) Knowledge is Power, Atwell Haines '99 TL NJ

I don't know what's up with mine then. I called the dealership today and they looked at my service record...they said they did replace the rotors and all the brakes. They said that some do need it sooner.... My Integra had 129K on it before ever needing brakes. My friends tease terribly and say "That's because you NEVER use them."

Note sure where they put that foam tape. They said it was on the metal railing that the seat cover hooks onto. Somewhere in the seat just behind the drivers left shoulder (left hand side as if you were seated in it). I have just noticed coming home from the snow last night that the seat is squeaking again (down under the seat somewhere) and the passenger seat heater is not working. For once I demanded to drive home so I wouldn't freeze my tail off. (such a spoiled brat I know)...anyway...Will take it back in after the holiday...doubt I would get resolution before the new year anyhow...I bet lots of folks are on vacation.

First of all, where exactly is Fort Lauderdale? I have a '99 TL. I don't believe that you need to wait for 7,500 miles to have your first oil change, I always take my car to the dealership between 3,000 to 3,500 miles or every 3 months. As long as you are willing to pay for the service, I don't see why they can't do it. Yeah, my driver's seat squeaks all the time, maybe its because I am a tall guy or something like that, I never really ask them why they squeaks. Anyway, write back if you have any more questions. --CKL-- Metro Phoenix Area (Scottsdale), AZ

Acura published a service bulletin on 'squeaking seats' in 1999!! The service writer is a complete idiot if he isn't aware of the fix, self-adhesive felt tape on the seat supports. I can email a copy of the service bulletin to you if you're interested - you might get some satisfaction by waiving it in his face! Sounds like this dealership is a real turkey...you may be better served by finding a good independent shop, at least for routine repairs. Good luck!
