Hey Dave,
My name's Dave too. Anyway, I've got a 99 premium and
my car starter cost me $280 ($199 for unit and
install, $50 for security bypass, 14% tax) all
together. I've had no problems at all and I find it
to be of great convenience. Having a 1.6 is good for
this because we don't have the antitheft chip in our
key/ignition, i think the 1.7's do. This would jack
the cost up another $50 and you would have to
sacrafice a key to the installer.
As for interference with the remote, Honda/acura
remotes have a saftey feature that dissables the
remote when the car is running. This means that when
you remote start your car, you have to get into it
with a key (and open the trunk with the lever inside).
All other times the remote is fine. Another down
side is that you have to carry two remotes unless you
want to pay $70 to have them programmed into one (i
opted just to carry two, i only use it during winter
anyway).
Hope this helps,
Dave.
