I have a 2000 cr-v with 75,000 miles, If anyone has a
howling, whining noise from the rear differential on
hard turns right or left such as a u-turn in a parking lot.
replace the rear diffo fluid the book says 60k in severe conditions
and 90k normal use,use honda recemmended dual pump fluid 1.3 qts. as
it has the correct additives for the limited slip rear end. that took
care of
my noise instantly. as my technician friend told me it would
apparently there is a service bulletin on this issue.

Yup, common problem with the noise. Most of us change it at 30K just as
cheap insurance. Costs less than $10 in oil and $10 labor, so why not?

Sorry to hear that Gary! Ouch. That is really expensive. If that were to
happen to my old trusty 97, I'd probably just disconnect the rear drive
shaft to make the V into a 2WD!

Just kidding...I feel your pain. Hopefully, there is no more leak in your
rear diff.
