Question

I have a 2003 Honda CRV LX 4 wheel drive and after 4 months of use,
now whenever I press the brakes, I get this clunk noise. It is
really bad when I am stopped shift into reverse, hit the brakes and
shift into drive - say,if I'm maneauvering in a parking spot. Honda
tells me that EVERY SINGLE HONDA DOES THIS and if it idoes not do
this then the car is brkoen. I find this really hard to believe. I
have never had a Honda before and all of the other cars I have had
NEVER made this sound. It makes me feel very unsafe.

Any suggestions, anyone else have the same issues?

Thanks in advance,

TDIGUY

Had exactly the same problem in mine when it was new.
Sent it back to the dealer and they made some
adjustments. Now it's gone.

Don't take NO for an answer. Have it fixed.

I had this happen to me on a vehicle in the past. The fiber part of the
brake pad had broken free from the backing plate. The fiber part was moving
around but still doing it's job properly.

TDI:

Your service rep has obviously not checked the database. TSB 03-333
deals with Honda CR-V brake 'clunk'. I had the problem too and asked
them to perform the TSB. My CR-V hasn't done it since. And, when
you have it back to them, make sure they perform the two recalls too.

Guys,

I have the same problem with my CRV but would like to
know if this is a CRV defect(recall). My car is
already more than a year and this repair might not be
covered by my warranty anymore.

If this is a CRV defect(recall), then there is no
charge for me (hoping it is still covered).

How much does it cost to have it repaired by honda?
Any idea how much?

Thanks!

I had this problem on my 99 CRV. It is very common problem. Does not
make the car un-safe, just annoying. Learn to live with it.

Guys,

I got the same problem. The Honda Alabang Philippines service got it fix (no more annoying clunkin') according to them by greasing the caliper on the brakes.

fyi and safe driving.

Bro,

I have the same problem on my 2003 CRV AT. The guys at Honda Cars Alabang (Phils) fixed the problem (no more annoying clunk) by greasing the brake caliper.

Not a recall - no safety issues concerned but just an annoying noise.  I brought my car in about 8 times before and they could not find the issue  - even changed all of my brake pads and tunred the rotors at no charge but it was not until the tsb 03-330 came out and I showed it to the service department did they fix it that same day (took about 10 minutes) and did not charge me.
