I had an 86 Honda, which I loved dearly. I took it to a mechanic for a tune up and the car was never the same. Finally I donated the car. I bought a Toyota, which is a great car but... I miss my Honda. How do these two cars compare? I'm thinking of selling the Toyota and buying another old Honda Civic, which seems to last forever. What are the differences? Both cars are 4 cylinders and both seem to last forever. My Honda had almost 300,000 on it and still ran like a top for the 3 years I owned it. Than it started to stall and do some other things. I finally decided to donate it rather than spend money on it. Now I kind of regret it. However as I said maybe buying a newer honda might be the ticket. They're so zippy.

well IMHO i believe that civics are better and do run better. My friend had an 89 civic dx (i think that is the right model) and it had around 150,000 miles on it and ran like a charm. i loved switching out with him and letting him drive my 98 integra so that i could drive his civic. there are plenty of cheap used hondas out there with low mileage in the price range of around 2 to 3 thousand...they are quite zippy and i'm sure it would be a good idea to just go for it!

I'm still driving the 89 Civic that my wife and I bought new. It has about 240,000 kilometers on it and I honestly don't know what the price of a repair would have to be for me to give up the car, because I still plan on using if for another couple of years at least.

I also drove 2 new Toyota Tercels in the early 80s just for a total of about 4 or 5 years, and I liked them very much. But I think the Civic was probably more reliable even in its 2nd decade than they were.
