I have a 92 Honda Accord/standard with 250,000 miles. Can't be too picky at that mileage, but I can't help it. When I first got the car at 148,000 miles the car had good power. Now at 250,000 it lacks power and I catch myself having to downshift to get speed. The car idles well, but is an effort to get going out of 1st gear. I use 20/50 Castrol and change my oil on time.

At this mileage could I assume that I have a compression leak from either the valves or pistons? I don't burn any oil.

umm,20/40?The recommend oil 2 use is 10/40.Im guessing ur car is manual.250,000 miles,thats alot!!!& it still lives,lol,wow.Impressive.my engine poped at 190,000 miles,cause some chinese mechanic though my oil had 2 be real thin,idk 5/10 im guessing,all i know the guy put the thinnest oil in the engine,im in the high way,& out of no where i have pure white smoke coming out my muffler.any way,change your oil,that should do it,good luck...
