Folks,
Please advise if this is not the way to post a question. Brief scan of CRV
site and Audio section turned up zilch.

My question is this. What experience has anyone had with a portable CD
player "car kit" that plug into factory cassette. Do any work especially
well? Will any harm come to my cassette unit? I realize this will not
have the fidelity of a real CD player, but on my budget I must forgo the
audiophile route.

I've used on in the past and honestly, with the wires, connections, the cd player sliding around it's a PITA, honestly, I'd save your money and spend $100-150 on an in-dash CD player.  We had to do that when the OEM CD player in my wife's car went out.  We found a nice Clarion for around $150.  I'm sure you could do better over the internet. The CD player will work, however, if you are in a pinch.

I have a Sony Car CD while I save my money for an upgrade. I do hear
noise like what happens when an old scratchy LP is played on a
phonograph. Sorry for those of you who might not understand "LP" and
"phonograph". And for those of you who do know...boy are you old (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) It
doesn't bother me when I push the "play" button. But when I'm not
playing the CD player I have to eject. Personally I think the sound is
great for the technology. Then again there's nothing like that boxy
interior to make any sound system sound great. Like the placement of
those 6 1/2 inchers. Can't wait to replace them with some high end
speakers. And I want that JL sub in the back!

ps Now to watch "The Fast and the Furious" then play some Gran Tourismo
