the problem that i am having is the dome light and head lights are pulsing, when you hit the gas the "mph" needle goes up and down like the "rpm" needle. also when sitting still and you hit the gas it makes the trip meter to go around and puts miles on the car. and lastly while driving if you give the car gas it doesn't take off like it should it just takes off a slow pace. please help, thanks, a sad civic owner.

sounds like a main body or ECU harness has had a closed circuit put on it from water or something. i'd have a dealership or someone good at diagnosing elec. gremlins check it out.

the harnesses should be relatively watertight and away from rain in normal situations. BUT.. things can happen. First, the wiring that goes to the dash area and instruments is under the hood right by the firewall on the driver's side. there are usually grommets there and possibly one is loose or popped out for some reason, causing rain water (which shouldnt be there anyways long as the cowl to hood rubber is OK on the black plastic cowl)the rain might have "rode" down the wires to an open spot and grounded something or arced another connection. second, there is the ECU behind the right kick panel. if there was a hole drilled for a stereo system wire to go to the back there could be a leak here as well (rare have i seen any leaks like what you might be having) but hey, its free to check this out. take a paper towel or something and dab around the area to see if its got moisture in spots you cant see. if there's a leak you should find it easily. hope this helps!

i'll try that in the morning because it's dark outside. i also took the batt. cable off the batt. and try to reset the ecu. no luck there.
