I just discovered a crack in the plastic that covers the gages. It starts from the bottom and is about 1 1/2" straight up. I have no idea how it happened, but understand it is difficult to crack. I want to stop it from cracking further. Someone said to use clear nail polish, but it seems to me that it wouldn't be effective. I am also concerned that I will make it look like crap.

Any ideas?

well my best guess would be to go with some crazy (super) glue in order to repair it. However i do not know why it would crack further unless there was a warp in your dash due to overheating or something similar. If it does crack further you might want to get a new one installed and ask them to check out and see if they know why the first one cracked. i have no idea how clear nail polish would really help at all though.
