Has anyone heard of or thought about a way to put a toggle switch on the
dash of the CR-V to manually engage/disengage the AWD system in the 4-wheel
drive version? I think that if you got ahold of a wiring diagram or
computer control for this system, it would be easy to make this happen.
Just wanted to see if someone else has been successful in doing this.

Thanks for the input.

Just a guess but I thought the AWD was a mechanical activation? Automatics
may have a computer control for the transmission that could be altered but
on my manual CR-V EX not much hope in controlling when the AWD activates,
pretty much related to wheel slippage and the AWD's viscous clutch
engagement.

The automatics work off of the viscous clutch system as well. It works
very well by the way. We've had freezing rain and snow the last few
days, and the roads were extremely slippery. My CR-V behaved better than
I expected. Much better. This is where it shows it's true value.

I have a 2 WD CRV. Is it possible to convert it
to 4 WD. How much it may cost

You'll be better-off selling or trading-in your 2wd and buying a 4wd. The
cost of the parts would be excessive even if you found a questionable
salvage vehicle for parts. My experience and conferences from reputable
mechanics indicates that more problems will be encountered with vehicles
modified this extensively.

I recently checked on the "new" SE model color matched hard spare tire
covers at hparts.com. I wanted the taffeta white for my taffeta white 1999
CR-V EX, hparts.com quoted $350
