I took my 94 honda accord lx to pepboys to get my brakes checked out and see whats wrong. They told me that i needed new front brakes, new left rotor and my right one cut. The price the gave me including installation labor parts and all that was 119.99 for brakes, and 50.99 for the rotor. I know this is cheap as hell for a rotor because most places charge 45 dollars an hour labor and in my honda the rotors are press on so u have to take apart the whole front end. Does this price seem right??? Cause i know all of the other places i called they wanted almost 200 for the rotor total. I called them back and asked them and they said yes but i dont know it seems like there is some kind of hidden cost here or something. Has anyone dealt with pepboys and knows if they are a good place to get these things done at? i dont know if its better to pay the cheap price, or if that cheap price means they will be doing bad work. Ahhh I dunno... can someone help me out?

check the part manufacturers and their warranties. they are probably not as good as OEM. depending on the mechanics they are quite good. got my van done there. talk to the mechanic and see if he knows what he's doing. let us know the manufacturers for the parts. i have to take my 96 in for brake service too. afhopie44

I gotta ask about the $45 per hour labor charge- my local Pep boys charges $70 per hour- I'd come to your place- and the local pep boys shop has had multiple problems with bad alignments, leaving the oil pan plugs out after an oil change, etc. If they are trustworthy all the better.

NTB is still controlled by Sear Auto division- given Sears owns off-shore parts factories for all their hardware- this sadly has become a common problem- do a search for NTB complaints- it's mind-numbing what is found.

Thanks for the info..I just bought tires at NTB a couple of weeks ago and they said that Sears sold their part of the business and is no longer associated with NTB....I also discovered that the new company deleted all of the work done in the database so if you had work done by the old Sears NTB and you lost you receipt, your out of luck with any warranties....I also noticed that they kept all of the old Sears/NTB employees (at least at this site)....Not a good sign but I did get a good deal on tires..I would just stay away from any repair work...

That's a step in the right direction- heard also from a solid source in the biz that NTB and Walmart are buying tires made under license from off-shore plants using US names including Michelin- not the same qulaity tire at all- went to look at a Michelin 235-75-15 they had on sale at Walmart for $30..... felt like a rigid plastic tire off of a Big Wheel. Come on- Michelin for $30???? 20K warranty??? gotta wonder- look past the name. My broker says Sears still owns an interest in NTB- maybe that's why the faces haven't changed... or they are good and the new owners cut a deal- let's hope so.
