Hey, I'm new to the forum and new to figuring out problems with my car. Just to remind you its an automatic 97 civic HX, Hx meaning it has a CVT transmission....you don't hear the car shift, I don't even really need the tac. So far I've changed the brake pads, fluids, and air filter. As the car comes to a stop, a loud grinding noise happens from time to time, almost like a drum rotating. At first when I heard it I thought a tracker trailer was squeeling to a stop behind me. It sounds like a a freight train even, grinding and squeeling. However the noise will go away if I put the car in park. It seems to always be there, barely noticable, yet really loud when it wants to be. It doesnt freak me out as much any more, yet i'm wondering if it is slowly killing the car. Along with this, first gear could be messed up. If the car makes the noise or not, leaving a stop, the car will vibrate and buck forward, much like driving a manual transmission and pushing in the clutch and gas unevenly, eventually causing you to stall out. My car does this....yet its an automatic and never stalls out. Could my transmission be going? Yay! *sarcasm*
