That 84 HF I bought is driving my nuts, I hung a new exhaust, rebuilt the brake system, and now the thing wont turn over. It started and ran fine this morning, I drove it to the store and back, then when I tried to start it again later I heard a *snap* like a fuse popping, only I cannot find a bum fuse. I was going to take it to an electrical shop to see about getting the dash lights working. It is obviously electrical, I turn the key on and get no idiot lights, yet the headlights work. I can not find a burnt out fuse. Under the dash looks kinda bad because the stereo had been stolen before I bought it, but I cannot see if something is bare and grounding out, or shorting or what. Any ideas, or suggestions (other than get a second gen, which I would have done if I could have found one...)

I haven't had to work on my 1st gen much so I don't know if it has fusible links like everything else I've ever worked on, but that's where I would start. If it has them they will be close to your battery. Check to see if any are burned in half. If I think of anything else I'll post more.

The only thing I can think of other than that is maybe it is somewhere in the steering column. Check your ignition switch. The way I figure it, It has to be somewhere between that and the fuse box since your headlights still work.
