I have a 1991 Honda Civic DX Sedan. I have a small oil leak (amounts to a small drip on the left (driver's) side if the car is parked for about a half an hour or more). It appears to leak along the front left portion of the oil pan. I recently had the pan gasket and distributor o-ring replaced. There is less leak than before (no more leak on right side of engine) but the problem has not been resolved completely. I plan on taking the car back to the mechanic who did the first oil leak repair. In the meantime, if anyone could offer any insight (no pun intended!) that would be great. Thanks.

Took my car to my mechanic. They suggested an engine shampoo to pinpoint the leak clearly. They also suggested it may be the crank and cam seals leaking (drip at the left side, after all). Does that seem reasonable. I realize it's an older car, so there are bound to be some leaks. In the meantime, I think I'll just live with the leak. It's just a tiny drip and doesn't amount to much accumulation. I'll just run one of those high mileage oils and hopefully that'll help somewhat. Clearly that's no substitute for replacing the seals properly, but maybe I can revisit this in about a year if the leak worsens.

Btw, how many hours of labour are involved in changing the crank and cam seals? Is that an expensive job?
