Does anyone know if the Odyssey has had a problem with transmissions? We have a 2005, and I am just over the 36K manuf warranty (36.8K) and the engine is whining at 35-40 MPH. Worried they won't back up and I will be in for new trans.

I have a 2002 Odyssey at 43 k miles , past the warranty which had transmission problem. Noticed some slippage between ist and second gears. Then malfunction light came on. I had it diagnosed thru the on board diagnostics plug at Auto Zone and the error code showed "incorrect gear ratio.

I called Honda corporate to see if it was covered by an extended warranty and they said no. However, when I brought it to the dealer, they(dealer) called me later to say it was covered.

Note that there was a class action that covered model years 1999 to 2001.
Perhaps they extended that to the later models.
