From what I understand, you don't want the gas sitting in the engine for that long of a period without the car being started. It is a good idea to have someone start the car on a regular basis. You may also need to do something about having the tires rotated and filled and other regular maintenance details.
As for the rat or mouse situation - I let our car sitting at the car repair shop for five days. When I got in and started the engine everything was fine. When i turned on the air conditioner, there was a HORRIBLE thudding noise. The guy at the repair shop said we needed to have the fan cleaned out that something had probably built in it.
After the weekend, when we went to take the car back to have the fan cleaned we quickly realized that there wasn't something built in the fan. There had been something living in the fan. Believe me when I say that having something chew your lines is the least of your worries when it comes to animals!
