I feel my 2002 CRV is so noisy that I can't barely heard my radio. I
changed the tire to Regata2 ( one of the quiest GoodYear ), it help a
bit but still not good enough. I always feel that the rear doors are
not shut or window is opened. Can someone tell me what else can I
do? add window visor? running board?..... Thank you!

My 2002 is a bit noisy, but I assume it is tires. It does not sound
like wind noise (door or window issue).
Take a close look at the weather strips, I have a Dodge and they get
loose and let in lots of wind noise.
I certainly can hear the radio fine.
I have a friend who always gets his cars undercoated to cut down on
road noise.

My 2001 is quite noisy, stock Goodyear or Goodrich something tires.
I plan to add sound damping sheets to all door panels and the floor
pan. That's a fair amount of work, but I don't think a simple switch
of tires will cure this.

I spend most my time in this car twiddling at the stereo volume to
compensate, kind of sucks. Overlay the fumbling with a cell phone
and that's a recipe for trouble.

My 2002 CR-V EX is way quieter than my SAAB 900S ever was when new. I guess
it all depends on your frame of reference!

It's funny how most people want the bells, whistles and sound dampening
of a luxury SUV...but for the price of a compact SUV. You get what you
pay for. It ain't that bad folks. As far as I'm concerned...I did
upgrade to luxury. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I just took possession of a 2002 LX. I had test driven it for about
an hour before finalizing my decision. Everything seemed cool, but
then as I got on the freeway to come home, I started hearing (and
feeling in my back teeth) this disturbingly loud bass rumble/hum. Is
that the noise people are talking about? It seemed to last for pretty
much all the ride home on the freeway, but then slacked off when I
got onto regular streets. I had turned on my radio while on the
freeway and then turned it off. When I turned it on on the city
street, it was so loud it hurt my ears...and I had barely been able
to hear it on the freeway. This car was purchased mainly for long
freeway trips, so if this is not fixable, I'm in trouble. Has anyone
found a satisfactory fiz for it? Pam

Before I bought my 2002 Sport( Australian for EX) I test-drove both a
2001 run-out model and(after 6 weeks) a 2002. The improvement in a
lower total noise-level was quite remarkable in the 2002. Could the
problems that are being experienced in the US be linked to a better
spec. for sound-deadening in your EX compared to the LX. Just a
thought!

I had a 2001 CR-V SE and sold it this year.  I purchased an Accord EX-V6 coupe but did drive the test drive the new CR-V when making my decision.  The new CR-V was a TON quieter than the old one!  I thought many aspects of the car were greatly improved- more attractive, more power and quieter!

Wow, this is plenty loud for me...though if it had been louder on the
better roads, I probably wouldn't have considered buying it. I'll
have to ask if the specs for the EX are different. Obviously, noone
else around here is having the same problems, because the CRVs are
selling like hotcakes...and the salesman who sold it to me has
personally sold at least 10 of them and never gotten a complaint. I
have always been sensitive to noise, especially bass. I noticed on
the previous discussion about noise someone made some comment about
expecting an SUV to sound like a normal car. Are SUVs in general much
noisier than the average car?

The dealership is now recommending undercoating. Can someone who has
had the undercoating done let me know if it made a significant
difference in the road noise? Thanks. P

Ya gotta figure that boxy exterior shape with those gigantic mirrors
contribute to the sound of that rushing wind noise when goin' down the
highway. And that boxy interior shape must also contribute to the
noise. I personally don't have a problem with the noise. I own a
fourth gen/first gen V - LX model. Was in the dealership last week and
they handed me a little deal on the Pilot. Looks like the second gen
V's big brother. I like it. You'll find a little sneak peek below.
