The bumper covers and much of the external trim appears to be vinyl, so
I was planning to use a product like Vinylex or 303 on it. Am I on the right
path to long term CRV beuaty here? And any tips on the black trim?

303 makes some excellent products, I have used the 303 protectant inside
and out on my CR-V and have had no problems whatsoever. Personally, I really
like the stuff.
