I'm considering purchasing a new CR-V; what kind of gas mileage are people
getting? I drive almost all highway miles.
Thanks!

Greg,
I have a 2000 2WD with 9K miles. In mixed driving, I have consistently
gotten a solid 25-26 mpg. On highway, even at 75, I get 28-30. Many
others report less. I would give the difference to my rather conservative
habits, correct tire pressure and some to the temperate weather here in SC.
I expect during AC season to loose some economy though.

Some folks claim that a roof rack eats 2 or 3 mpg. I doubt the minuscule
increase in frontal area has that much effect. I have a rack.

Good luck and enjoy a fine car.

Thanks, Andy.
The only concerns I have with CRV are:
1) I am 6'4" tall and currently drive an accord. I love Honda reliablity but
worry about the room!
2) I really really want a sunroof.
3) I want to be able to carry bicycles
4) but I need gas mileage. I drive 30K miles a year and have to get more
than 18mpg of lets say a Toyota 4Runner!
-any advice???

Greg,

I have a '98 EX [May of '98 as a matter of fact!] w/ 108,000 miles. I have
logged every fuel stop, PM and odometer reading since new. I consistently
average about 25.4 mpg ranging from 23 to 28mpg. I drive 28 mi each way to
work In St. Louis and spend a large part of the rest of my time on the road.

As an aside: I still have the original Goodrich tires and there's still a
fair amount of tread depth left.
I replaced Timing and all other belts @ 105,000 + H2O pump. Had to wait for
a Timing belt kit to get here because I was told no one in the area has
changed one yet so they hadn't started stocking them!
Oil change & tire rotation @ 3500 mi. intervals.
I had the mirror trim control go out the first couple of months and other
than that have experienced no other squawks.

I would [and probably will] buy another CRV in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the input!
-So I could probably tow a small boat onroad (I live in a very flat area with no hills)??
-Have you ever carried bicycles with your CRV-maybe with one of the trailer hitch mount bike racks??

Sorry, no. I did see one on the interstate once towing a trailer longer than
it was! I would think a small trailer would be fine though.

There are towing guidelines and weight limits in the CRV owners manual.
