I'm new to this Honda forum and I had a question about my daughters 2000 Honda Civic.

She tried to put her car in park and the car was not recognizing that it was in park. It would not let her take her key out. The P was not lit up even though she was in park. She had to put her car in neutral to start it and once she drove around for awhile, she was able to put it in park and take out the key. Someone thought it might be the Neutral Safety Switch. Can anyone tell me if that sounds right and how hard that is to replace?

Thanks,

Joey T

Or if you pull off the cover around the gear shift. something could be retaining it from going in to park. or if theres an adjustment then maybe that. but i would think it would be that switch.
