Well, because of a back injury I'm in need of new seats...especially because the rails and brackets are rusted into one position. My girlfriend and I went to the junkyard and couldn't find anything 88-91 civics...that measure 13" in width bolt to bolt. All years 92' and above measure 17" so we would need to fab something up, but we're trying to avoid that. We just want something close that will fit even from another company. Any suggestions or opinions? Thanks in advance.

Dude, sorry to hear you got hurt.

It looks like new parts are still available - at least they are on hondaautomotiveparts.com.

They're a little expensive - someting like $250-$275 US for the tw rails shipped, but probably worth it.

If nothing else, talk to your local dealer, get the part numbers, and then you should be able to initiate a search of the used parts database - at least there is one that's nationwide in the US that used parts dealers can search for you.

That's not a bad price if worse comes to worse. We just found a pair in a '91 Civic sedan, still in and all mechanisms are good to go. The only problem is my girlfriend is really bothered by the stale smoke smell. So that's still up in the air...I'm thinking if I get them cheap enough I'll get 'em professionaly cleaned or try power-washing and carpet cleaner. Tough call...I'm surprised at the scarcety of this gen. at junkyards, I though it would be no prob. Any other ideas?

In the Toronto area I found a little place that specializes in used or salvaged Japanese auto parts. I got a passenger seatbelt buckle for a good price. They installed it, too.

Maybe there's a store like that in your area?
